Tony L. Kirk, D.V.M. Dr. Kirk grew up near Liberty, Kansas and graduated from high school in Coffeyville. He attended Kansas State University and graduated with a B.S. and Doctorate of veterinary medicine. After graduation, he started a practice in Neodesha, Kansas and later in Cherryvale, Kansas. After selling the practices, he moved to an ophthalmology practice in Denver, Colorado. He was there for six months before buying into an animal hospital in Reseda, California.
The hospital, McClave Veterinary Hospital, was rebuilt and awarded a national award for design and construction in 1977. While at McClave Veterinary Hospital, the practice grew from a three-man practice with six employees to a seven doctor practice with twenty-nine employees. He sold interest in the practice in 1980. McClave Animal Hospital is now home to thirteen veterinarians and houses a staff of over ninety.
In 1981, Dr. Kirk opened a new practice in Santa Paula, California and ran it until 1985 when he opened a new practice in Oak View, California. From 1985 to 2004 he built and moved two other facilities in the Oak View area.
While in California, Dr. Kirk served as the president of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and was chairman of the California Veterinary Medical Association Board of Delegates. He is a life-time member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. He is also an associate member of the American Animal Hospital Association and a member of the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Kirk has also been active in many non-profit animal associations.
Gina Holen, D.V.M. Dr. Gina Holen is the newest addition to our professional staff. Dr. Holen grew up in Everest, Kansas and graduated from Horton High School. While at Horton High, she graduated class valedictorian and was president of the National Honor Society.
From Horton High, she attended two years at Sterling College. She attended Sterling on a NAIA Athletic scholarship in track and cross country. Her course of study there was General Science.
Dr. Holen earned her B.S. in Psychology in 2008 from Kansas State University. She completed an additional two years in coursework and labs in chemistry, biology and physics.
In May 2015, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri (Columbia). Her elective courses were in small animal nutrition, emergency/critical care, small animal internal medicine, theriogenology, and cardiology. She was inducted into Phi Zeta, the honor society of veterinary medicine.
Dr. Holen and her husband, Ryan moved to Coffeyville in May with their 6 dogs, 1 cat and chickens. Dr. Holen has been an active member of our staff since that time.
Natalie Lakey “Small but mighty”!! Natalie comes to us from the human medical field and has been involved with nursing homes, worked at CRMC hospital as a certified nurse’s assistant and at Coffeyville’s Doctor Clinic.
Natalie fills most of the positions of our clinic. She is the “go-to” per person in parasite control, all round product manager and is certified in canilne/felilne nutrition. Her duties include inventory control, internet supervisor, office manager and over-all utility person.
Natalie is a graduate of Coffeyville High School and is a lifetime member of the community. She has two children and is very involved in the local activities.
Jordan Stafford Jordan comes to us from Independence. She attended high school there and cheered for Indy all four years. She continued her education at Independence Community College as well as her cheering from 2014-2015. She is a certified nurse’s assistant and plans on attending nursing school sometime in the future.
Her duties with us are at the front desk and you’ll most likely talk to Jordan when you call. She is being trained in most areas of the clinic as well.
