Surgery Our doctor is skilled at performing both routine and non-routine soft tissue surgery. To ensure the safest and most effective experience for your pet we routinely do the following: - Perform an exam prior to surgery - Recommend pre-anesthetic blood tests - Administer pre-operative sedation to minimize stress and anxiety - Monitor your pet closely during the entire procedure - Use the highest quality anesthetic - Administer post-operative medication to minimize swelling and pain as needed
Diagnostic Our staff performs many laboratory tests in-house. Some of the laboratory tests performed include: heartworm testing, pre-anesthetic blood work, blood chemistries and profiles that aid in diagnostics, as well as many others. We also send samples to laboratories around the country. By performing such tests, we ensure the best success in diagnosing and resolving your pet’s particular problem.
If your pet is coming to the clinic for testing, please check with the staff the day prior to your appointment for specific instructions regarding certain factors that may affect the outcome of your pet’s tests.
Radiology At some point in your pet's life, we may need to take x-rays (radiographs) as part of a diagnostic workup. We perform this service in-house, using short exposure times to limit your pet's exposure to the radiation. Films are developed automatically in less than 90 seconds each and are permanently labeled in compliance with state and federal laws. We also offer copies of the radiographs for you via e-mail or CD.
Dentistry Regular professional cleaning is important in maintaining your pet’s health. Our oral scaling and polishing procedures are performed under anesthesia for the safety and comfort of your pet. This allows our team to complete a detailed examination of the teeth, gums and over-all oral cavity. The actual dental procedure consists of an ultrasonic scaling to remove tartar and calculus on the teeth and below the gum line. We also remove teeth that are diseased or loose. After the scaling, we polish the teeth and rinse with a fluoride rinse to help prevent tartar build-up. When you pick up your pet, we include before and after pictures of your pet’s teeth.
Nutrition Proper diet is essential to your pet’s overall preventative health program. Our staff can help you plan the appropriate dietary regiment for your pet’s individual needs. These programs will specify amounts to be fed, results to be expected and the daily cost of feeding your pet.
Pet Supplies The clinic maintains a small pet supply section. We have a selection of medicated shampoos, dietary supplements, parasite control products for your pets and home, as well as prescription diets from Hill’s and Royal Canin.
